What to Expect
Kampong Thom is an exceptional destination for families with children. The temples are not roped off or museum-like — kids can walk through them, touch the ancient brick, and climb the roots of strangler figs. Phnom Santuk is a mountain with wild monkeys. The Stung Sen has boat rides. And Cambodian cooking classes are hands-on and delicious. This two-day circuit is designed to keep children engaged while giving parents a genuinely cultural experience — not a theme park version of Cambodia.
Your Experience
Sambor Prei Kuk with Explorer Kit
Morning at the UNESCO temples. Children receive a simple Explorer Kit — a map and worksheet that turns the temple visit into a discovery mission: find a lion guardian, spot a flying palace, count octagonal towers.
Phnom Santuk — monkey mountain
Drive to Phnom Santuk for the 809-step climb with wild macaque monkeys. Children love the monkeys — and the views from the top. Down before sunset, dinner at a riverside restaurant.
River boat ride
An hour on the Stung Sen river by flat-bottomed boat. Spot birds, see fishing nets, and watch the riverside villages from the water.
Family cooking class
A hands-on cooking class where children can help prepare simple Cambodian dishes — vegetable stir-fry, fried rice, and mango salad. You eat what you make for lunch.
Free time & departure
Free afternoon to explore the riverside or town market before heading out.
