Meditation Retreat
A morning of stillness at a forest pagoda — sit with monks, breathe, and carry the silence back into your day.
What to Expect
Buddhist pagodas in Cambodia are not museums — they are living spiritual centres where monks wake before dawn, chant morning prayers, and receive offerings from local families every day. This experience gives you quiet access to that morning world: you join the alms-giving, sit in the prayer hall during chanting, and then — if you wish — learn a simple breath meditation practice from a resident monk in the pagoda garden. No previous experience is required. The forest pagoda is peaceful. The silence after the chanting is something you don't forget.
Your Experience
Departure to the pagoda
Your guide picks you up and drives to the forest pagoda — about 20–30 minutes from town, arriving before the monks' morning chanting begins.
Morning alms-giving
Join local families at the pagoda gate for alms-giving — presenting food offerings to the monks as they file past. Your guide explains the meaning and protocol.
Chanting in the prayer hall
Sit quietly in the back of the prayer hall (or outside if preferred) during the monks' morning chanting session — 20–30 minutes of Pali prayer in the early morning light.
Guided meditation with a monk
A resident monk guides you through a simple breath meditation in the pagoda garden — typically 20–30 minutes. Your guide translates. No experience or belief necessary.
Pagoda garden walk & return
A quiet walk through the pagoda grounds — stone Buddhas, lotus ponds, ancient trees — before driving back to town.
