About This Tour

Prey Lang — 'Our Forest' in the indigenous language — is Southeast Asia's largest lowland evergreen forest and one of the most important conservation sites in Cambodia. This tour takes you into the forest with a community forest monitor from the Prey Lang Network: someone who has spent their life protecting these trees, tracking illegal logging, and documenting wildlife. You'll walk 2 hours through the canopy, learning about medicinal plants, identifying wildlife signs, and understanding what it actually takes to protect a forest this large.

Hotel Pick-up & Drive to Forest

Early morning pick-up from your guesthouse. Drive 60–75 minutes to the Prey Lang forest edge — the road takes you through rice fields and fishing villages.

8:15 AM

Meet Your Forest Monitor

Meet the community forest monitor from the Prey Lang Network at the forest edge. Your guide will interpret. The monitor will explain their role, the network, and what you'll see today.

8:30 AM

Forest Trail Walk — 2 Hours

Enter the forest canopy. The monitor leads the walk, stopping to identify medicinal plants, explain wildlife sign, point out where illegal cutting has occurred, and show how natural forest regenerates. The trail is uneven ground — wear closed-toe shoes.

10:30 AM

Forest Edge Rest & Q&A

Rest at the forest edge with the monitor. Ask anything — about the forest, the threats, the community's history, what is and isn't working. An open and honest conversation.

11:00 AM

Village Lunch & Return

Simple lunch at a community home near the forest. Then drive back to Kampong Thom town, arriving early afternoon.
